Introduction to Persian Music

In this workshop, we explore the rich and vast world of Persian music. The topics will include the types/genres in Iranian music, history, instruments, a bit of music theory and characteristics of Persian music, its influences, and differences with Western music. Also, starting the second week, in each class an instrument will be shown and introduced by a guest musician and expert of that instrument. Knowing basic music theory or playing an instrument is recommended but not required.
